The Solid Black Blob

They found the mass, deeply embedded,

not far from the heart,

A rush ensued, diary dates not exceeding fourteen days,

keeping the cancer promise.

They saw an enemy to conquer.

I saw a solid black blob on an X-ray screen

in a darkened room.

The darkness was my friend. . . . .

Roses in December

A collection of Linda’s poems.

ABOUT THE POET

Linda is an ex primary school teacher, now living in Buckinghamshire and as a teacher, she aimed to instill a love of reading and of writing in her pupils. She runs a small writing group in Aylesbury. She has always loved to write and have a large collection of poetry from which she chose poems for this, her first collection. Breast cancer in 2020 caused her to re-assess her life goals.

The writing of these poems spans three decades. They came together following a brush with breast cancer in 2020. Some offer outlandish solutions to social issues and others centre on relationships. In the words of one of the poems:

We are powered, empowered and connected.
